There’s More to The Story
ALICE in Lebanon County
The poverty rate in Lebanon County is 12.0%. But that doesn’t tell the whole tale.
What is ALICE?
ALICE is an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. It is defined as households that earn more than the Federal Poverty Level, but less than the basic cost of living for the county. ALICE is a better metric of struggle than the Federal Poverty Level, since it takes into account what it takes to “make ends meet” instead of just what it takes to physically survive. With 31% of households below the ALICE threshold, it’s much more obvious how many people in Lebanon County are struggling.
