Adult Basic Education

Tec Centro Lebanon believes that the foundation to better employment and community integration starts with clear and professional communication. Our ESL classes empower language learners to develop their English language skills in a motivated and culturally-appropriate way. Each class is customized to fit the needs of students at various proficiency levels: beginner, low intermediate, or high intermediate/advanced. Each session lasts about 10 weeks.

The conversation groups meet once or twice a week and are casual and relaxed to allow participants to gain confidence in speaking English.
Everyone is welcome and these groups are mixed proficiency levels.

This 6-week course provides the foundational knowledge for a range of health care professions and focuses on core competencies including communication, medical terminology, and professionalism. Anyone who would like to pursue training for health jobs like Certified Nurse Assistant, Phlebotomy, and Medical Assistant and who need more practice and confidence in English will benefit from this program.

This is an intensive 12-week course to improve English proficiency and confidence while building in-depth career and job readiness skills for employment in the US. The classes will cover career and education exploration, steps to getting a job, considerations for succeeding and growing in a job, planning for the future, and civic engagement. Program participants will receive individualized support from a Career Coach. An Employment Specialist will work one-to-one with each student to apply for and secure a job or training program. The Employment Specialist will provide support for 6 months after starting a new job. This course is best for adults who want to continue to invest in their professional career for the long-term and who need to strengthen English proficiency and confidence. Limited space.

One-to-one or small-group tutoring is available for Emergent Learners that need to learn basic English before entering a Level 1 class, or for students who need specific support. Priority is given to Emergent Learners. Schedule is worked out between the tutor and student.

Classes help adults earn a high school equivalency diploma by passing the HISET test. These classes allow adults to get more practice in subjects before taking the test. The HISET test measures knowledge in reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, and science. The course utilizes online resources (HISET preparation materials) as well as traditional textbooks and electronic assignments. The classes are taught in Spanish and students will take all five subject tests in Spanish.
