Lebanon, PA – The past week at WEPA has been full of momentum, community impact, and exciting activity across our programs. Workforce Information Sessions brought in strong attendance, with more than twenty people exploring opportunities across all programs. Many are already moving ahead through testing, interviews, and required clearances as they begin their journey toward enrollment. The interest continues to show how much these programs matter to our community.

Phlebotomy students stayed busy as well, with high participation in this week’s clinics. With their clinical rotations beginning next week, students are stepping into the hands-on phase of their training with confidence and enthusiasm. In another meaningful community partnership, Lebanon Family Health Services held their Sexually Transmitted Illnesses (STI) clinic on-site, serving thirty registrants while giving our students valuable clinical experience. The next clinic is already scheduled for February 12 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Dental Assistant students focused this week on preparation sessions for their upcoming radiology exam, strengthening both their skills and their readiness. Meanwhile, the WEPA team celebrated an important milestone for one of our own. Julia Ansel completed the Leadership Lebanon Valley program, marking a meaningful achievement that reflects her dedication and growing impact.

WEPA also welcomed representatives from the Plumber’s Union, opening conversations about possible future partnerships in the construction trades. Exploring these connections helps broaden the options and pathways we can offer students in high‑demand fields.

On the HR side, WEPA continues to grow its team. The organization is building a pool of part‑time instructors for English as a Second Language while also hiring a part‑time Dental Assistant instructor for two evenings a week and a Financial Controller to support ongoing expansion. Visit our Careers page for further details about current openings.

On Tuesday, HISET classes resume in their new space in room 202. On Wednesday, we welcomed Maryann Valez, the new Wilkes‑Barre Tec Centro Center Director, who spent the day shadowing operations. Our executive director Kay Litman spent Thursday in Lancaster with House Leader Bradford visiting Tec Centro Southwest.

Upcoming program offerings also continue to grow. English Conversation Sessions will run March 3 through May 14 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, while Community ESL is already underway through March 12, with a new spring cycle beginning in late March or April. A new Computer Basics course will launch April 6 and run through May 14 on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Across workforce training, programs currently in session include Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide with Integrated Education and Training, which blends language instruction with vocational preparation. The coming months will bring even more opportunities, with new cohorts beginning in March for Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, and the newly added Medical Coding and Billing program. Nurse Aide begins again in April, and CDL training is scheduled to start March 31 in the Allied Health Suite.

Each week at WEPA brings new accomplishments, new partnerships, and new opportunities for students and staff alike. As we move into the next week of classes, clinics, and community engagement, the momentum continues to build—another reminder of how meaningful this work is and how many lives it touches. Let’s carry that energy forward into another week of growth and impact at WEPA.
